Inclusion Support
Reach works with parks & recreation departments to provide an extra person at a program when a person with a disability requests additional accommodations to be successful. These inclusion facilitators work together with coaches & instructors to blend in, providing the minimum support needed, & encourage independence & skill building in all of the participants. Inclusion helpers support children and adults in all types of programs such as dance, t-ball, summer camps, art classes, yoga, paddle boarding, chemistry club, swimming lessons, & more. Inclusion facilitators focus on attention span, sensory integration, communication, physical adaptations, and behavior management. They assist with social interactions, repeat and/or model instructions, verbally redirect a participant when distracted, assist a person with meeting their sensory needs, and generally assist a program to be successful for all. Each person is unique & supports are individualized based on the participant’s goals.
